DIAC Board of Directors Chooses President-Elect

Tongue Sore

I have recently been scraping my tongue across my teeth, and wedging it in between grooves of my teeth, causes a sore spot on my tongue. I am in a lot of pain. There are also raised red taste buds throughout the rest of my tongue. It if finals week at my University, so I think this action is caused my stress. I have also been drinking a lot of coffee. How can I correct this problem? What can I use to help the pain?

Try not to irritate/ aggravate it any more.  You might apply any over -the-counter oral ointment/moisturizer/lubricant like orabase as directed.

A patient in my Burbank office asked me about the long-term with implants. Dental implant complications can occur. Most focus on the surgery, but what I am talking about is what happens later down the road. Later, meaning after the crown, bridge or full implant restoration has been attached to the implants.

This video reviews two problems that can occur with a dental implant months or years down the road.

Keep in mind that “regular dentistry” has complications too. Fillings break, crowns wear out, root canals become lose their seal, etc…unfortunately nothing is forever. But with good upkeep and regular visits, potential problems can be taken care of more easily than waiting.

Making the Unfortunate Transition to Dentures

If you have lost a substantial number of teeth, perhaps through decay or age, dentures can be the best option. There are a number of treatments to choose from, each with their own benefits.

Conventional denture treatment

Conventional dentures are made by a dentist in Tampa taking a mold of your mouth and teeth. The color and shape of your teeth are also taken into consideration. However, they’re not placed into the mouth until 8 to 12 weeks after the teeth have been removed. This allows the gums to have healed properly. The main drawback of this form of denture is that you’ll have to go for a significant period of time without teeth.
