Dark Purple Blister in Mouth

I have noticed a very dark purple, blister like bump in the inside of my mouth, on the inner part of my lip that rests against my upper teeth. I was using invisilign braces & am now just wearing the night time retainers. I showed it to my dentist and he said it looks like it may be from rubbing against my retainer, and to stop wearing it for a week to see if it goes away. Well, it hasn`t. I do notice that sometimes it feels more puffy, it kind of puffs up & then goes down, but never goes away. It has never hurt or given me any pain. Should I be concerned?

What you describe could be a varix or dilated vein.

Tooth Cleaning and Brushing

After a  professional tooth cleaning the gums are usually hurt. How long after the procedure can we resume toothbrushing so as not to hurt the gums more?

If the gums are tender, brushing and flossing them 2-3 times a day immediately following your cleaning is the best treatment. Tissues are tender because they are inflamed and need the stimulation of the brush and floss to firm up.

Gum Tearing

I tore my gum on my lower front tooth awhile back. It never healed correctly and I have been making it worse with brushing. It has finally gotten so low that I can see the base of the tooth before the roots and the gum around it is sensitive as well. What are my options to fix it?

Your general dentist can refer you to a periodontist who could perform a grafting procedure to cover the exposed root structure and will also help with the sensitivity.
